Privacy policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

This policy explains how Marine Access Systems Ltd ("we", "us") handles personal data in Boatworks: the Boatworks web application, the Boatworks mobile app, and this website.

Who we are

Marine Access Systems Ltd, Co. Dublin, Ireland. For anything about your data, use the contact form on our home page.

Boatworks is a work tool used by boatyards and marinas. Where a yard uses Boatworks to keep records about its staff and customers, the yard decides what is recorded and is responsible for those records. We run the service and process that data on the yard's behalf.

Who the app is for

The Boatworks app is for staff of businesses that use Boatworks. Accounts are created by the business, not by signing up in the app, and are not intended for children.

What we do not do

Why we use it

To provide Boatworks to the business you work for: signing you in securely, recording the work done, and keeping job, boat and stock records accurate. The legal basis is the business's legitimate interest in running its operations and, where applicable, its contract with you as an employee or contractor.

Where it is stored

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) provided by our hosting company, Render. On your phone, the app keeps your sign-in token in the phone's secure storage and a few display preferences, such as light or dark mode.

How long we keep it

Work records are kept for as long as the business needs them for its operations, accounts and legal obligations. When an account is closed its sign-in and device access is removed straight away.

Deleting your account or data

Ask the administrator at the business you work for, or send us a message through the contact form with the name and email on your account. We will remove your account and device access, and delete or anonymise your personal data except records the business must keep by law (for example time and financial records), within 30 days.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and ask for it in a portable format. Contact us using the details above. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Changes

We will update this page if the app or this policy changes, and change the date at the top.
